In BYTES, you’re up against a smart AI, Complexus, that tries to counter your moves with turrets she thinks will work best. No path stays safe for long. Complexus buys and upgrades turrets with credits from destroying your Bytes and passing rounds, just like a player would.
While the game is all about dodging damage and adapting to new threats by creating your own paths. Use special tiles to protect your Bytes, jump over gaps, teleport past walls, or speed past turrets. Change your Bytes’ formation to either bunch them up or spread them out, depending on the danger.
Choose from three types of Bytes or customize your own waves in the Byte Editor. Beat levels, unlock upgrades, and take on tougher nodes to reclaim East Grid’s 71 security nodes in any order you want.
The features of the game a full story with two main endings and dialogue options to interact with characters. You play as a hacker hired by New Life to stop Complexus from messing up the city. So the story progresses as you complete Story Nodes, which can be done in any order. The game remembers the order you play them in, so you can revisit old scenes if you want.
