OVERVIEW OF Angola ’86:

In Angola ’86, it’s 1966, and the South African Border War has kicked off. As a commander in the South African Defence Force (SADF), you’re thrown into a counter-insurgency (COIN) war to secure South West Africa’s border with Angola. While your mission is to track down and take out SWAPO insurgents sneaking across the border to stir up chaos by intimidating locals, laying mines, and ambushing your troops. But SWAPO isn’t your only problem—they’ve got backup from FAPLA, Angola’s Soviet-backed army, with big plans to take over the whole region and push their communist agenda. FAR CRY 6

Moreover to win, you’ll need to coordinate everything: ground troops, special forces, artillery, mechanized units, and even the air force. Training local forces (SWATF) and gaining the trust of the local population is key, as their intel can make or break your mission. But it’s not just about the battlefield—you’ll also have to manage support for the war back home, and if you lose the backing of the United Nations, it’s game over. However this game really puts you in the thick of the South African Border War, where gathering intel, hunting down insurgents, and keeping FAPLA in check are the keys to victory. Start as a junior Lieutenant and work your way up to General, watching your uniform change as you relive this intense chapter in history.
