OVERVIEW OF AMEDAMA:
AMEDAMA throws you into an intense soul-shifting journey where you possess different bodies to find your sister. You don’t have a physical form, so you’ve got to jump into whoever or whatever you can control, taking on their weapons and fighting styles. Depending on who (or what) you’re possessing, you’ll meet new faces and face unique enemies in your quest. The whole game takes place in the rain-soaked streets of mid-19th century Japan, with a pixel art style that perfectly captures the mix of beauty and darkness in that world. But it’s not just about jumping from body to body. You stuck reliving the same seven days over and over again, and your decisions change how the story unfolds. Who you talk to and how you act affects everything. However each choice pushes the drama forward, making every playthrough feel different. Yushin, the main character, can use a technique called ‘Misty Riposte,’ countering attacks and dealing massive damage in return.
The story kicks off in the town of Aihama during the last years of the Edo period. One rainy evening, a group of men attack Yushin and his sister, Yui, at their family’s umbrella shop. Yushin is killed in front of Yui, but his soul refuses to rest. Now, as a wandering spirit, he determined to save his sister, no matter what. But with only seven days before his soul leaves the world for good, he has to work fast, shifting bodies and uncovering a deep conspiracy lurking beneath the town’s peaceful surface.
This game is a dark, rainy mix of reincarnation, revenge, and mystery—where you’ll do whatever it takes to save Yui before time runs out.
