In Ecosystem, you’re basically creating life from scratch in a simulated ocean full of evolving creatures. These virtual lifeforms start with basic DNA that controls everything about them—from how they move and think to how they fight. Each creature’s nervous system acts like a mini computer, so they sense their surroundings and move just like real sea life, flexing joints to swim through water.

To start, you release random creatures into the ocean and let evolution take over. The ones that can move a bit better survive and have offspring, and within a few generations, you’ve got natural swimmers. You can also guide their evolution using tools to make your creatures adapt in specific ways whether it’s giving them electric attacks or poison spikes to defend against predators. Whereas the game progresses, you unlock even more control that allowing you to shape everything from body size to swimming efficiency.

The ocean itself is fully customizable, letting you raise mountains, carve caves and even adjust the ocean’s depth and soil type. So with tons of stats to track from population charts to evolution trees, Ecosystem gives you the ultimate sandbox for building your own thriving, battling world of sea creatures.
