In Unakis, you step into the shoes of Nala, a girl who senses a disaster on the horizon while everyone around her tries to look the other way, almost as if they’ve accepted the inevitable. With an eerie calmness, Nala can hear a mysterious humming that gives her a chance to change their fate, praying for some sort of divine intervention to help guide them through the upcoming chaos. You’ll navigate through the story by interacting with the environment, which will either push the narrative forward or throw you into a combat sequence. Moreover there are over 10 different combat styles, each requiring you to master unique controls. For example, when facing a close-range attack, you’ll need to move toward the danger, while head-on attacks demand precise timing to counter.
Combat is divided into mini-boss and boss encounters. Mini-bosses trap you in a single room, giving you just enough time to heal before the next attack. Boss fights, however, are more drawn-out, with you needing to move between rooms, heal when possible, and use point-and-click mechanics to find ways to weaken the boss.
You’ll inevitably take damage during combat, but you can heal by finding safe spots where Nala can listen to her heart and regain stamina before diving back into the action.
However you will encounter a variety of characters each with their own agendas, adding layers to the plot and shaping the grand narrative. An abundant soundtrack, featuring around 77 distinct tracks, enhances and makes every moment richer and more memorable.
